On October 12–13, 2026, a senior delegation representing three top-tier South Korean asphalt and road construction material firms concluded a two-day on-site audit, technical exchange and commercial negotiation at our Dalian specialty asphalt production base. The delegation inspected continuous polymer-modified asphalt production lines, performance testing laboratories and port-side bulk logistics terminals, and discussed structured supply arrangements, joint field trial cooperation for domestic Korean road projects, and long-term framework plans for the Northeast Asian market. Both sides reached initial consensus on a 2027 pilot procurement program and a joint technical working group for application engineering support.

The visiting delegation comprised procurement directors, chief material engineers and supply chain leads from three major South Korean players: a leading national highway asphalt supplier, a specialized modified asphalt manufacturer for urban road projects, and a road maintenance materials provider serving municipal governments across the country. All three firms have sourced smaller spot orders of our asphalt products through regional traders over the past three years, and this visit marked their first direct on-site review of our production and quality systems, timed to align with South Korea’s expanded 2027 national road maintenance and regional infrastructure investment plans.

The two-day program opened with a full guided tour of the Dalian production campus, led by our plant operations director and asphalt technical manager. Delegates walked the full length of the continuous polymer-modified asphalt production line, reviewing raw material blending protocols, high-shear processing parameters, and in-line quality checkpoints. They paid particular attention to low-temperature performance testing equipment and accelerated aging simulation systems, as cold-climate cracking resistance and long-term pavement durability are top priorities for South Korean road authorities given the country’s sharp seasonal temperature swings.

In the on-site laboratory, the delegation witnessed real-time performance testing of a current production batch of PG 76-22 modified asphalt, including penetration, softening point, ductility and rotational viscosity tests. They cross-referenced the results against their own internal specification standards for national highway projects, and discussed fine-tuning polymer loading and formulation profiles to better match Korean road design requirements and local climate conditions.

The tour concluded at the port-side bulk storage and ship loading terminal, where delegates reviewed dedicated heated asphalt tanker loading procedures, temperature-controlled storage systems, and transit logistics options for sea freight to Busan and Incheon ports. They discussed delivery lead times, bulk shipment consistency, and port handling protocols for hot asphalt cargoes — a critical detail for maintaining product grade and performance during international transit.

On the afternoon of October 12, both sides held a four-hour technical and commercial roundtable focused on structured long-term cooperation. The Korean side outlined projected demand growth driven by the national government’s 10-year road infrastructure renewal plan, and expressed interest in securing a stable, long-term supply of high-performance modified asphalt to complement domestic Korean production capacity.

Discussions covered three core pillars: first, a 2027 pilot procurement plan for both containerized and bulk modified asphalt shipments for trial use on regional road maintenance projects; second, a joint field trial program to test product performance under Korean climate and traffic conditions, with shared data collection and independent performance analysis; third, the establishment of a joint technical working group to provide ongoing application engineering support and formulation customization for specific project requirements.

Both sides also explored the feasibility of establishing a local bonded asphalt storage terminal in southern Korea to support smaller, more frequent deliveries for municipal projects and reduce customer inventory holding costs. They agreed to launch a joint feasibility study on the initiative, with a target completion date by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

In closing remarks, the head of the delegation and procurement director at the national highway supplier noted, “We’ve worked with your products through third parties for years, and the consistency has stood up well on our test sections. But you never have full confidence until you see the plant, the lab, and the people running the process first-hand. What we’ve seen here confirms that your production systems and quality control are aligned with the strict standards we need for national highway projects. Moving to a direct, long-term supply framework isn’t just about securing volume — it’s about having a technical partner that can support us on specific project challenges.”

Following the visit, both sides aim to finalize and sign the formal multi-year supply framework agreement by the end of December 2026, with the first pilot shipments scheduled for February 2027. The joint technical working group will hold its first kickoff meeting in November 2026, focused on aligning product specifications with Korean Highway Corporation standards.
